TAMERA ABATÉ
-
I started drawing and painting as a child, my parents were very encouraging and supportive of my exploring. I started working as a professional artist in my early 30’s.
-
My work is abstract, color field encaustic. Some of my bodies of work are very colorful while others are a more subdued color palette. I’m interested in how colors react with one another when placed side by side and what emotions certain colors or combinations of colors evoke in the viewer.
-
I am inspired by Rothko’s work as well as Richard Diebenkorn, Barnett Newman and Hilma af Klint but I'm also inspired by the customers that come into the gallery and say things like "I just get swept away by your painting, those colors make me feel so happy.
