Introducing:
First Five Emerging Artists

Congratulations to our first five Emerging Artists:
Dylan Seeman, Brian Freeman, Roberto Alexander, Darcy Borg, and Talia Dudley!

This program is designed to give up-and-coming artists the opportunity to work and showcase their work in a Professional Art Gallery.

We are still accepting applications, and interviews will begin again in January as we consider new applications for the next group of artists.e

Dylan Seeman ~ Oil and Molded Canvas

What inspires you to create?
Philosophy, daily life, reading, everything has an ounce or two of inspiration to be found. Yet I don’t act on the first ounce I find, but like a sifting basket, I fill it up and let these things sort out, and after a while, the big ideas stick. Then use those as the seeds to plant my paintings.

Describe your creative process.
It starts with that nugget of inspiration, and I then combine it with boredom. I don’t enjoy staring at a blank canvas, but after sitting for a few hours with my phone off, nothing going on—I get into a state of super boredom that I would do anything in the world to get out of. And then it happens I play games with mental images to entertain myself, and this will go on till I have 80% of an image made. Then I paint and the proper work begins.

Brian Freeman ~ Acrylic Ink

What inspires you to create?
Nature.  The outdoors, hiking, and national and state parks have always inspired me.  I like to take my son to explore these gems, much like my father did.  I hope to give back and support these institutions for generations to come.

Describe your creative process.
My work typically starts with several illustrations and studies of digitally creating multiple images and abstracting my subject further with each iteration. I then transfer these images to a cutting block medium to carve my pictures.

Roberto Alexander ~ Contemporary Pop Art

What inspires you to create?
I am inspired by animation, comics, movies, and entertainment, as well as by my friends and family.  Through art, I'm energized to act bolder with images - free of censors.  My need to create comes from a want to invoke a thought to reach out and start a dialogue.

Describe your creative process.
I live, I observe, I process, and I wonder.  Forever a "student of life," I'm a voracious consumer of literature, art, and pop culture. I maintain an open mind mixed with an adventurous spirit, and I've learned that creativity can be sparked by anything.

Darcy Borg ~ Acrylic

What inspires you to create?
Walking in nature inspires me deeply, awakening a sense of wonder at the beauty surrounding me. Being in the presence of wildlife ignites a profound excitement within me, compelling me to capture and recreate what I experience energetically. It feels like an internal adrenaline surge, a powerful force driving me to create.

Describe your creative process.
I delight in selecting an animal and delving into its personality and energy, then transforming its habitat into vibrant new colors, shapes, and forms.

Talia Dudley ~ Chalk and Charcoal

What inspires you to create?
My subconscious. I am interested in the space where we keep our thoughts, memories, and traumas. I wonder what it looks like, is it a room? a house? a city? That’s where the architecture manifests.

Describe your creative process.
I am a very process-oriented artist. My subject matter and concepts are mined from my subconscious. I start with flat charcoal washes and develop mindscapes on top of them. I let the lines and marks tell me where to go next, where the next door is, if there's a hidden room, and which way the stairs flow. I never start with a specific idea; I build as I go.
