Oil/Still Life

  • Originally from Maryland, I now call Arizona home, where I pursue my passion for oil painting. I  am drawn to the beauty of still life, finding inspiration in classical techniques and the quiet elegance of careful observation and rich detail. I hope that my work brings warmth and timeless beauty to those who experience it.

My artistic journey began in childhood with a love for sketching and painting. I later studied at  the Maryland Institute College of Art, focusing on graphic design and illustration before  expanding my focus to oil painting. For over a decade, I worked as a designer in the publishing and radio industries while continuing to paint, exhibit, and refine my skills.

While my career in design and illustration was fulfilling, I always returned to oil painting.  Studying with mentors trained in the Dutch-Flemish tradition deepened my understanding of classical techniques and reinforced my commitment to craftsmanship. After moving to Arizona in 2010, I embraced both my roles as an artist and educator. Teaching at the Scottsdale Artists'  School allows me to share my love of oil painting with young artists and support community outreach programs.

  • My work captures the delicate interplay of light, color, and atmosphere, bringing a sense of life and depth to still-life subjects. Using rich, luminous oil paint, I explore the beauty of simple,  everyday objects—whether the soft, velvety petals of a flower or the reflective surface of a glass bottle. My goal is to evoke a quiet elegance, drawing viewers into a moment of appreciation for the subtle yet profound beauty in the world around us.

  • I am inspired by the beauty I find in the world around me—the way light falls on a delicate petal, the richness of color in a simple arrangement, and the quiet elegance of everyday objects. Creating is something I feel truly called to do; it is my way of capturing and sharing the sense of wonder that moves me.

Art is meant to be shared, and I hope that each piece brings happiness and positivity to the space where it hangs. Through my work, I strive to offer moments of beauty and reflection,  inviting the viewer to pause and find joy in the details.
