Pastel & Mixed Media

"This is what I was born to do. From the time that I was 8 years old I
knew that I would be an artist. There just wasn't any doubt, no second
choice, no question. To create art, in whatever form it may be, is part of my purpose in this life."I started my career with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Arizona State University, with a specialization in graphic design. Working as a designer for several years, I then transitioned to fine art, and began working in soft pastel. After 25 years of creating very realistic florals, landscapes, and figures in pastel, I have transitioned again.
My new focus is using recycled materials and 'found objects', combining them into sculptures and wall pieces. Using pieces of old, rusty metal, broken jewelry, shards of broken glass and china, cabinet and drawer hardware and random pieces of rusty 'anything', I create with things that most people would throw away. I find materials in thrift stores, junk shops, antique malls and on the ground in the alleys in my neighborhood People sometimes give me things they've salvaged from their junk drawers and garages. I am having so much fun creating this way and have also started adding my 'found objects' to torn paper collages with acrylic paint and colorful scraps of textured paper

My artwork is created using all recycled materials. I love taking what many would call pieces of junk and turning them into something creative and beautiful.
What inspires me to create is the actual materials (aka: junk) that I find. Experimenting with combining different pieces together sparks an idea of what they can make; an angel, a creature, a cross, a vase of flowers, etc. made with recognizable pieces of what used to be something else.
